Mail Direct 2.0

License:Shareware OS:Win 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP
Rating: Rated 5 Stars. Submitted:7 Jan 2004
File Size:1.20 MB Price: $20.00 USD (approx.)

Mail Direct allows you to bypass your ISP's mail server and use your computer to send e-mails directly to recipients. The program can do this because it has a built-in SMTP server which you can use instead of your ISP's mail server.

All you have to do is set up your e-mail client to use "localhost" as your outgoing mail server and run Mail Direct. The program will then deliver any e-mail that you send out through it.

Mail Direct will obtain mail exchange (MX) host information from a DNS server and send your message directly to your recipient's mail server using SMTP protocol. If the recipient's mail address is wrong, the program will terminate delivery before sending any part of your message. This feature enhances the security of your e-mail communications and greatly reduces annoying and wasteful "bounce" messages.
